Has anyone ridden around caz lake?

Postby bjh000 on Thu May 21, 2009 2:57 pm

I'm planning on going on a ride around the lake and was wondering if its nice. I mapped it out and it seems like the east lake rd side would be real close to the lake but the west lake rd seems a bit farther. Just wondering if anyone has gone around it before.

I used to live in Manlius and my typical loop included a trip around the lake. It's certainly scenic enough to warrant the ride. If you're heading clockwise around the lake, the only hill of any significance is the stretch of Rt. 92 between Rt. 20 and West Lake Road, but overall it's a pretty flat route.

I like to ride up Rt5 from Fayetteville and then up Rt 13 to Caz. Then back Rt92 to Fayetteville. Its 32 miles, and its a nice ride UP until after Caz. Then its thrilling downhill. Its a good workout. it takes me about 2 hrs, but I'm pretty slow and may stop to water the flowers. I've thought about doing the lake Rds, but they don't have much of a shoulder and can get pretty heavy fast traffic. At least when I've been on them before.

I just rode from Chittenango up to the Falls, down to the village of Caz and back to Chittenango down Ridge Road. I'd strongly recommend this ride. The ride up to the falls was great with a brief view of teh falls during the climb. The views on ridge road are AMAZING and even though there are a bunch of hills, each downhill gives plenty of recovery time.

We left from a friends house and from their house it was a 28.6 mile loop.

It's not around the lake but a great ride with views of the lake
